U.K. National Meteorological Library & Archive Implements SirsiDynix Hyperion

London.—September 14, 2005— SirsiDynix announced today that the National Meteorological Library and Archive at the Met Office in the United Kingdom recently has chosen the SirsiDynix Hyperion Digital Media Archive to add to its SirsiDynix Unicorn Library Management System.

The SirsiDynix Hyperion Digital Media Archive will be installed under the HP-UX operating system on the librarys HP server, which currently runs the Unicorn system.

Martin Kidds, assistant librarian at the National Meteorological Library and Archive, said: Hyperion will enable us to showcase our unique collection of more than 3,000 images illustrating all aspects of weather and climate, from cloudscapes to meteorological instruments. The National Meteorological Library and Archive exists for everyone with an interest in the weather and climate: we hope that this collection on the Web will capture the publics imagination and encourage them to take an interest in the weather and submit their own images for the collection. SirsiDynix Hyperion offers us both integration of the image collection with our existing collections and separate searching through the hierarchy.
