Newham College of Further Education Chooses SirsiDynix Unicorn

LONDON —December 6, 2005— SirsiDynix announced today that Newham College of Further Education, located in the United Kingdom, has chosen the SirsiDynix Unicorn® Library Management System. Newham College comprises two main campuses, each with a modern, well-equipped Learning Resources Centre (LRC).

The Unicorn system will be installed with Oracle on a Microsoft Windows® server platform and will provide access via the SirsiDynix WorkFlows® graphical user interface to online public access catalog (OPAC) services, Cataloging, Authority Control, Circulation, Acquisitions, Serials Control, and the Knowledge Portal to external services over the Internet. Access to the OPAC will also be available through the World Wide Web via the iLink electronic library. Newham College will also be subscribing to SirsiDynix's iLink DataStream service, which provides enriched catalog records so that users may view, along with the records, book reviews, tables of contents, book jacket images, synopses and annotations, and author notes.

Jacquey Kerney, librarian at the Stratford LRC explained that: "Unicorn was chosen because of its comprehensive functionality, user-friendly interface, and compatibility with the college's management information systems. SirsiDynix's proven track record inspires confidence in a smooth transition to the new system".
