HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—December 13, 2005—Docutek, a SirsiDynix company and a leading provider of Internet software for academic, public, and K-12 libraries, today announced the release of v5.2 of Docutek ERes, its market-leading electronic reserves system. Docutek ERes v5.2 features CCC Connect, a seamless integration with Copyright Clearance Center’s (CCC) rights licensing database that delivers major productivity advantages for e-reserve librarians. The new release allows users to quickly search, obtain, and modify permission when posting materials on reserve without leaving Docutek ERes.
"Now librarians can easily manage all copyright-related issues from one system," said Leah McGinnis, undergraduate librarian at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. "Connecting to CCC and getting permissions within Docutek ERes couldn't be simpler."
Docutek ERes v5.2 is the most powerful version of the system yet offered by Docutek. Communication between the CCC and Docutek systems is two-way, enabling Docutek ERes to instantly reflect a change in the copyright status of a document. CCC Connect users can check the status of special copyright requests online and have more flexibility to manage and track copyright transactions. Other new features include an improved search and order process, expanded search results, and the ability to submit “special order” permission requests to CCC.
“Docutek is uniquely positioned to provide this tool because of both our powerful rights management capabilities and our deep knowledge of libraries,” said Yonn Samuels, vice president of Docutek. “For this latest ERes release, we worked closely with Copyright Clearance Center to make the permissions process faster and more convenient for librarians, thus ensuring that library content is copyright- compliant.”
“Our integration with Docutek ERes dates back to 1999 and we have seen strong growth in its adoption by e-reserve librarians,” said Tracey Armstrong, executive vice president of Copyright Clearance Center. “These new features and improved workflows make it easier than ever for e-reserve librarians to get permissions within Docutek ERes. We look forward to building upon and continually enhancing our partnership with Docutek.”
