What is a blog?

According to Wikipedia, "a blog is a website in which journal entries are posted on a regular basis and displayed in reverse chronological order. The term blog is a shortened form of weblog or web log. Authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called 'blogging'. Individual articles on a blog are called 'blog posts,' 'posts' or 'entries'. A person who posts these entries is called a 'blogger'. A blog comprises hypertext, images, and links (to other webpages and to video, audio and other files). Blogs use a conversational style of documentation. Often blogs focus on a particular 'area of interest', such as Washington, D.C.'s political goings-on. Some blogs discuss personal experiences."

Stephen's Lighthouse: A Blog by SirsiDynix's Stephen Abram

Stephen's Lighthouse
Stephen's Lighthouse is a blog where SirsiDynix's vice president of innovation muses about all things library and librarianesque.

The lighthouse theme is based on what lighthouses do – shine a light on the waters and/or sound a horn to help ships navigate the course. They can't always stop the ships from crashing onto the rocks, but they help most of the time.

Stephen keeps a keen eye on trends in libraries, librarianship, and technology. He offers his own opinions, as well as pointing to the writings of others that can be helpful or have insight. Stephen believes that the role of libraries in their communities is transformational, and libraries and librarians have a tremendous opportunity to make a difference in the world.

Stephen says that the goal of his blog is to "help the good ship Library World navigate to its vision of the future."
