TRACKING KNOWN ISSUES JUST GOT A WHOLE LOT EASIER

28 Sep 2012

A Known Issue Tracker (KIT), one of the most highly anticipated features for the SirsiDynix Support Center (SDSC), is now available. KIT simplifies searching for known issues and provides up-to-the-minute information about these issues.

With KIT, you:

  • No longer need to know the issue number (aka JIRA, UNI, DSC number) to find known issues.
  • Can quickly find all issues for specific products, releases, modules, etc.
  • Can monitor the current status of issues in the SirsiDynix development database.

KIT will integrate with, not replace, the Known Issues that are included in Release Notes and other documentation available in the SDSC.

What's different about the new Known Issues Tracker is that it provides a direct window into the development department database so you can search for issues and monitor their progress real-time. As progress is recorded in the development database, KIT reflects this progress immediately. In this way, SirsiDynix customers can know the status of issues as quickly as SirsiDynix employees do.

To access KIT, click the SDSC Known Issues tab:

If you know a specific issue number you want to see, enter it in the "Find Known Issue by Issue ID:" search (number 1 above) as you did before.

If you want to search for all known issues related to a specific product, release, module, etc., select a product in the "Find Known Issue by Product:" search (number 2 above):

On the resulting Known Issue List (above) you can:

  • Further filter issues by component (module), version, status, or resolution.
  • Do a keyword search of the issues' summaries and descriptions.
  • Sort some of the columns in ascending or descending order by clicking on the column header.
  • Change screens if there are many issues.
  • Click the issue number link to view more details about the issue as shown here:

KIT is only available to SDSC users who are able to create and manage cases. To limit clutter, not all issues are visible in KIT. For example, a single customer issue may have several related issues that are only pertinent to the development process. One enhancement or bug fix may require changes to the database, code, user interface, documentation, etc. Each of these related issues is tracked internally by development, but only the originating issue is shown in KIT.

When using the Known Issues Tracker, it is important to keep in mind the following disclaimer which is also provided on the KIT home page:

"The Known Issues Tracker includes projections, estimates or other information that are forward-looking and subject to risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially. Do not place undue reliance on these forward-looking statements, which reflect our opinions only as of the date they are written. SirsiDynix expressly disclaims liability as the result of any reliance on the Known Issues Tracker. Information found in the Known Issues Tracker is proprietary to SirsiDynix and is made available for the sole use of SirsiDynix employees and customers. Distribution of this information in any manner without the prior written consent of SirsiDynix is prohibited."

As always, your feedback about what you like in the SDSC and suggestions about how we can further improve it are greatly appreciated. Please share your thoughts using the feedback link located at the top of each page in the SDSC or e-mail your comments to sdsc@sirsidynix.com.
