Like most businesses, we understand how important it is to have a Facebook presence, but as your partners at SirsiDynix, we want to go beyond simply understanding—we want to be actively participating in the Facebook world. Libraries use social media as a way of engaging their communities and users, and we want to do the same. Customers, employees, and friends of SirsiDynix view our page to stay up to date on the latest happenings within our company and within our customer community.
Specifically, we don’t want to just acquire “fans” on Facebook, we want to inform and to interact with them. Our first order of business is to make sure we can interact with all of our customers that are active on Facebook. To make that happen, we are becoming fans of all our customers on Facebook! This way, we can stay current on the exciting things happening in each of our customer libraries.
We’d love to be able to “like” everything our libraries are doing, but there’s just not enough time in the day! However, we have determined to write a feature on a library each week to highlight the wonderful services and activities that library provides to their patrons and their community. This “Library of the Week” feature is a small way of thanking our customers, and showcasing the unique and creative ways they serve their respective communities.
In addition to “Library of the Week”, we will also include a “Library VIP” each month. Every library staff works hard to provide the very best for their patrons and users. We want to recognize and honor those efforts. As a fun twist, we will take the nominated staff members from each “Library of the Week” for a given month and have their friends and associates vote for the winner!
The final feature we will add to our Facebook page is our “Employee Spotlight”. Facebook is a great way to help our customers become more familiar with our SirsiDynix employees. We’ll start this feature next month by highlighting one of our employees and let you know a little bit about them. It’s a nice way to say “thank you” to our employees for their hard work as well giving our customers a chance to get to know them better.
We hope these three new features: 1) Library of the Week, 2) VIP of the Month, and 3) Employee Spotlight will be both interesting and informative to you.
