Features

Dynamic, faceted and fully customizable.

At SirsiDynix, we believe that when a library user enters a search term – even one that’s misspelled or unclear – he should never get a blank screen in response. The SirsiDynix Enterprise discovery portal utilizes trigrams and “fuzzy logic” technology to make this a reality. With fuzzy logic, a “Did you mean…” index pops up to correct misspellings or typos, and at the same time yields results for related terms. In addition, auto-complete features generate results for partial-term queries. These capabilities, among others, ensure that Enterprise bypasses human error to create a pattern of successful searches. No matter what a user searches, they will get results. Every time.

Virtual "rooms" for showcasing library resources. Create “rooms” based on content categories and themes for specific audiences based on their profile, and guide user discovery with high-quality content that supplements the room's theme. For universities, this means rooms for individual colleges that query specific databases unique to the academic discipline. Schools can create age-based rooms that offer guided searching appropriate for the age of the user. Public libraries can create rooms for for specific patrons groups, such as Spanish-speaking patrons, or pages for individual library branches. For special libraries, it’s the ability to limit or offer information and resources depending on one’s department or role.

Make your library a community online through social media support, or incorporate a third-party application to allow users to rate content or submit their own book reviews. Enterprise integrates with Syndetics ICE™ (Indexed Content Enrichment) from Bowker®, the leading source for bibliographic information. ICE™ content such as reviews, cover images, tables of content, awards data, fiction profiles, excerpts, summaries and author notes can be indexed and accessed through Enterprise searches, driving more search results and improved relevancy rankings.

Too many search results? Enterprise 4.1 enables precise search refinement through faceted search. Users can narrow search results by a particular facet of information such as author, format, publication date, availability or holding library. Users can even deselect options within facets they don't want to appear in search results. Discovery aids display information about the search results in categories, such as location, format, author, subject and language. Users can easily narrow results using options in the result set, taking the guesswork out of refining search results and eliminating dead-ends.

Fuzzy logic provides relevant, powerful search results, even for unclear, incomplete or misspelled queries. Libraries can configure levels of relevancy with fuzzy matching. Dynamic search suggestions are retrieved based on past successful searches for the same keywords.

Federated searching allows users to search library databases and catalogs using Z39.50 and 360 Search. Users enjoy the comprehensive nature of harvested searching, which retrieves results based on the most relevant content, regardless of information type — library catalog, websites, PDFs, external databases and more. Relevancy rankings for content expedite the review process.

URL-based searching enhances the user experience by allowing them to duplicate results. Users can save URLs of searches to review results later. Enterprise also offers RSS feeds, so users can stay up on new library offerings relevant to topics they have interest in.

Multilingual support allows users to change languages on the fly and to display search results using Roman and non-Roman character sets.

Make Enterprise completely your own. A what-you-see-is-what-you-get editor makes administering Enterprise content uncomplicated. The editor can format data and allows you to change fonts, colors, images, external links and more. Enterprise also accepts direct HTML input. Images or other files are easily stored on the server through the administration interface.

Gain more control over content in the display window with the bibliographic detail display feature. With Enterprise, you can tailor this information to better match the user’s needs.

Enterprise is developed to be mobile friendly, so no matter what mobile browser is accessing your library’s website, the site will scale to allow friendly viewing and use.
