Loyola Law School Joins the LOUIS Consortium & SirsiDynix Family

November 29th, 2017

November 29th, 2017, Lehi, UT— SirsiDynix and the LOUIS consortium are excited to announce the addition of Loyola Law School to the SirsiDynix family. Previously an Innovative customer, Loyola Law School will be migrating to SirsiDynix Symphony, joining with the rest of the Loyola University New Orleans Campus into the LOUIS consortium. This brings LOUIS to a total of 36 Louisiana colleges and universities that are part of the Symphony ILS initiative.

Loyola Law was looking to benefit from the efficiencies that come from joining a consortium, and so conversations about joining with LOUIS and SirisDynix began in early May of this year. Joining with LOUIS will bring expertise, aid, and knowledge to Loyola Law Library as they implement their new ILS system.

Laurie Phillips, Associate Dean at the J. Edgar & Louise S. Monroe Library at Loyola University New Orleans, knows the benefits that come with joining the LOUIS consortium, which include more technical support. “Joining LOUIS will allow our Law Library to do much more with their ILS with fewer staff. LOUIS staff and members offer a tremendous amount of support,” she said.

Brian Barnes, Library Director and Associate Professor at Loyola Law School Library, is also excited about the migration over to SirsiDynix, and is looking forward to the new opportunities the Symphony ILS will bring to their patrons. “I like that it’s user friendly. With this switch we will have a discovery platform that we have not had with our old system. I think this will be a direct benefit to the user,” said Barnes.

“Gaining access to shared institutional knowledge is an important benefit that comes with participation in the LOUIS ILS project,” said Cathy Sicard, Assistant Commissioner for the LOUIS consortium. “We provide tremendous support to each other and we share the knowledge that we have gained over the years working with the SirsiDynix Symphony ILS. Also, LOUIS is able to maximize savings to member libraries by negotiating deals in bulk. This allows libraries to obtain new and updated technology without having to spend much more annually.”

LOUIS has been a member of the SirsiDynix family for 17 years.

“We are thrilled to hear about the addition of Loyola Law School to the LOUIS consortium,” said SirsiDynix CMO Eric Keith. “We have loved working closely with LOUIS through the years and truly appreciate the relationship we have with them. We are excited to implement our SirsiDynix Symphony system in Loyola University Law School, and to continue serving all of LOUIS consortium.”
