LEHI, Utah (January 26, 2015)—SirsiDynix has scheduled five BLUEcloud Campus presentations for ALA Midwinter 2015, where Rick Branham, SirsiDynix VP of Global Accounts & Academic Initiatives, and Carla Clark, BLUEcloud Campus Product Manager, will shed valuable light on the library service platform’s progress, including integration with EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS). The presentations will take place from Saturday, Jan. 31 to Monday, Feb. 2 and will last approximately one hour each.

Among the presentations’ notable topics is the seamless integration of BC Campus’s Discovery service, Enterprise, with EDS. SirsiDynix and EBSCO have worked closely together to streamline the discovery experience for both EDS and Enterprise users, allowing patrons to use either the EDS or Enterprise interface to access the physical and digital content of their library’s catalog within a single search.

“EBSCO is committed to working with its partners to enhance the library end user experience,” said Ron Burns, VP of Global Software Services at EBSCO Information Services. “EDS integration with BLUEcloud gives SirsiDynix libraries the best options to provide their patrons better, easier access to the content they need.”

Through EDS, users can simultaneously search EDS and Symphony content—receiving real-time item information from SD Symphony. Users will soon be able to place holds and manage their accounts—all without leaving the EDS interface.

Similarly, users starting their research in Enterprise will be able to discover physical and digital resources with a single search, enjoying a completely interfiled hit list containing the library’s physical collection, eJournal articles, local digital assets, eBooks, and more.

”Our forthcoming release of Enterprise will bring our EDS integration efforts full circle,” says Branham. “Enterprise users will have access to all EDS search and access features from within Enterprise—truly merging best of class physical material management with the world’s most complete resource for electronic content.”
