June 13, 2016, Lehi, UT—Following a competitive tender process, Union Presbyterian Seminary (UPSem) has chosen to adopt BLUEcloud Campus, Symphony, and SirsiDynix SaaS. The historic institution has opted for the full suite of BLUEcloud academic solutions, including BLUEcloud Visibility, eRM, MobileCirc, BLUEcloud Analytics, and Enterprise. The Seminary’s migration to BLUEcloud Campus will take place during the fall semester, with the campus going live on October 13.

UPSem is a graduate theological school with campuses in Richmond, Virginia and Charlotte, North Carolina. Since 1812, it has equipped Christian leaders for ministry through programs that are scholarly, pastoral, and engaged with contemporary life. Its library, with facilities on both campuses, holds one of the nation’s finest collections of print and electronic resources in biblical studies, theology, Christian education and church history.  Its special collections attract researchers from around the world. Formerly on ExLibris’ Aleph 500, UPSem’s library chose to sign a multi-year contract with SirsiDynix in March of this year for the adoption of BLUEcloud Campus’ full suite of academic solutions, including Enterprise, Portfolio, and eResource Central.

Seminary leadership indicated that their decision to adopt Symphony was based on SirsiDynix’s best-of-breed approach—that the flexibility of the BLUEcloud platform, including web services and APIs, was essential for both support and adaptability. Christopher Richardson, Union Presbyterian’s Seminary Librarian, explained that, “A one-size-fits-all solution wouldn’t work for us.  We needed a platform flexible enough to accommodate our specialized collections and meet the needs of both our staff and our diverse service community. No other solution did that.”

Expressing his excitement for the opportunity to support UPSem Libraries, SirsiDynix CEO Bill Davison commented, “We are honored by Union Presbyterian’s choice to adopt BLUEcloud Campus. SirsiDynix considers the support of education to be of the utmost importance to our mission. We understand the high value Union Presbyterian places on the flexibility of our best-of-breed approach. The open architecture of BLUEcloud will allow Union Presbyterian to continue to make the choices that are best for their library and to connect to the best solutions that make sense for them.”
