SUMMARY:Using Technology to Enhance and Strengthen Community Relationships
DESCRIPTION:Do you need new ideas to strengthen your community outreach programs? Learn how St. Charles Library used technology to help them move forward in a new direction.\n\n\n\nThe St. Charles Library District serves a population of 55\,000 resident and growing. With such a growing community\, the library was in need of a way to reach out to their patrons\, accomplish their workload\, and find time to personally interact with patrons. This problem bubbled over until 2015\, when St. Charles realized they needed to make some changes with their senior outreach program. During this time David Kelsey and Dana Hintz joined the outreach team and discovered a new way of doing things that helped them gain functionality\, while spending more time with patrons. \n\n\n\nJoin us for this webinar as David teaches us how he strengthened his program through: \n\n\n\n\nThe exploration of modern ideas and letting go of old traditions\n\n\n\nStreamlining and digitizing their workflow\n\n\n\nExpanding into the community and leaving more time for personal interactions\n\n\n\n\nJoin with us as we learn and grow from David’s experiences and learn how to implement these new and modern ideas into your own library. \n\n\n\nPresenters \n\n\n\nDavid J. Kelsey is the Manager of the Outreach Services Department at St. Charles Public Library\, a position he has held since February 2015. He was previously a 2016-2017 ABOS Board Member-at-Large and chair of the Awards Committee. David is the co-founder of the Reaching Across Illinois Library System’s (RAILS) Serving Patrons with Dementia Group and was the founder of the Library Integrated Network Consortium’s (LINC) Outreach Task Force. He was a 2017 ALA Emerging Leader and is the recipient of the Illinois Library Association’s 2018 Alexander J. Skryzpek Award. David’s Department is the recipient of the national 2018 ASCLA Exceptional Service Award\, administered by the Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies\, a division of ALA.
