The South Central Library System Selects SirsiDynix’s SaaS-Hosted Symphony ILS

September 10, 2025, LEHI, UT—SirsiDynix, a global leader of library technology, is pleased to announce that the Madison, Wisconsin–based South Central Library System (SCLS) has selected Symphony, one of the most widely installed integrated library systems in history, as their new ILS.

Established in 1975 with service in Dane and Sauk counties, SCLS has since grown to span public libraries in five additional counties: Adams, Columbia, Green, Portage, and Wood.

SCLS’s collections and array of resources and services continue to evolve, too. The System’s shared catalog, LINKcat, now combines the collections of 51 participating libraries, extending access to nearly 3.5 million items. SCLS also provides ILS and technology support, library consulting services, delivery, and more.

When it came time to select a new ILS, SCLS sought an advanced solution that could not only manage the System’s high volume of activity—including an annual circulation of more than eight million items—but advance their mission of delivering exceptional service to their communities.

Following a thorough selection process guided by staff from member libraries, “. . . A quorum of SCLS LINKcat library directors voted to migrate to Symphony on SaaS,” explains SCLS’s Technology Services Coordinator Vicki Teal Lovely. “This offers industry-leading security certifications, a rich feature set for consortia, outstanding customer service, and an active customer user group.”

“After a yearlong evaluation process, the LINKcat libraries of the South Central Library System have selected SirsiDynix Symphony as our next ILS,” adds Amy Gannaway, SCLS’s ILS Services Administrator. “We are excited to work with the robust functionality and reporting available in both BLUEcloud and SymphonyWeb. We are also looking forward to customizing the Enterprise discovery platform and BLUEcloud Mobile2 to best serve the needs of our patrons.”

“It is an honor to welcome the South Central Library System to the SirsiDynix family,” says SirsiDynix Executive Vice President Mike Nehren. “From meaningful programming opportunities for staff and patrons to an extensive catalog that shares nearly two million items a year, SCLS is an integral part of each community they serve. We believe strongly in their commitment to empowering member libraries and the public, and we look forward to partnering with them in service of that mission for years to come.”
