PROVO, UTAH (October 3, 2011) – SirsiDynix, the world’s leading provider of library technology solutions, today announces the transition of SirsiDynix Chief Operating Officer Bill Davison into the role of Chief Executive Officer. Matt Hawkins, SirsiDynix departing CEO, will remain involved with the company as an executive advisor and member of the board of directors. Day-to-day operations of SirsiDynix will be assumed by Davison in his new role of CEO, effective today.

“We’ve made terrific progress building a stable, strong business focused on serving our customers and offering great products,” Hawkins said. “I’m very grateful to our customers and to our SirsiDynix team members and have absolute confidence in the management team and in the future of SirsiDynix.”

The transition of Davison to CEO was “part of our original plan when we asked Bill to rejoin us last year,” Hawkins added, and a move that will serve the company and the industry well.

“When we welcomed Bill back to SirsiDynix, we welcomed a history of rapport with our customers and a leader in our industry,” Hawkins said. “This is the next step in a very natural progression for the company and for Bill, as he guides the daily operations and strategic vision for SirsiDynix.”

Hawkins will remain engaged as a member of the SirsiDynix board while he transitions to Vista Equity Partners to continue work there. Davison, a long-time supporter of the library industry, expressed excitement for the transition and reaffirmed the positive momentum of the company.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to serve our customers and SirsiDynix as CEO. I have long loved libraries and their mission to educate and inspire their communities, and SirsiDynix continues to lead the charge in helping libraries continue to fulfill their invaluable role as information leaders,” Davison said. “I’m committed to the SirsiDynix product vision, to excellence in service for our libraries, and to meeting the needs of every customer we serve.”

Among the library customers that speak highly of Davison and his commitment to the industry is Brian Sherman, head of access services and systems at LSU Shreveport and chair of the SirsiDynix North America user group (COSUGI), who likewise believes the transition will be a positive one.

“We’ve heard some very promising product vision announcements from SirsiDynix, and I’m excited for the direction Bill will provide in bringing these products to libraries,” Sherman said. “SirsiDynix has been active in involving us as customers, and we’re looking forward to the future together.”
