Essex & Thurrock Join a Framework for the Future: The Libraries Consortium

October 14, 2020, Watford, UK—SirsiDynix is delighted to announce that Essex County Council and Thurrock Council have joined The Libraries Consortium (formerly The London Libraries Consortium), taking TLC’s reach beyond London and the home counties.

TLC (The Libraries Consortium) is the biggest consortium of public library authorities in the UK, comprising 20 public library services sharing expertise, resources, and technology for libraries of today and the future. In 2018, SirsiDynix won the TLC framework contract for the provision of a brand new Library Services Platform that would enable this partnership to offer an enhanced and modernised service to its customer base. The aim of TLC’s partnership is to grow organically in line with key recommendations from industry and government experts to deliver a single digital presence to authorities nationwide.

The number of customers who benefit from a wide range of stock is now at 2.8 million across 254 libraries. TLC has successfully delivered a library management system which meets the needs of customers, and this is being further enhanced with the addition of ‘self-checkout’ on the My Library app. Customers will be able to check out and return items in libraries from their personal mobile devices. As the Lead Authority, we’re working with member authorities to develop a unique digital platform giving customers access to books, events, and services all in one place – a single digital platform.”
