LEHI, UTAH (Feb. 16, 2012) – The City of Mississauga signed a 10-year agreement with SirsiDynix, the world’s leading provider of library automation products and services, selecting the SirsiDynix Symphony® integrated library system and the SirsiDynix Enterprise® discovery tool as the solutions of choice for the Mississauga Library System. Following a stringent procurement process, SirsiDynix’s library products and services emerged as the best fit for Mississauga Library System to fulfill its goals to provide a state-of-the-art solution built on the latest technology to streamline operations while providing an intuitive and sophisticated user experience. The decision to proceed with SirsiDynix continues the Mississauga Library System’s existing relationship with the technology provider that extends back to 1998 when the library selected their previous Dynix ILS.

Mississauga is the sixth largest city in Canada, located in the Greater Toronto area, and is home to 734,000 residents and 55,000 businesses, including 63 Fortune 500 companies with Canadian headquarters or major divisional head offices there. A diverse, progressive and award-winning municipality, Mississauga is committed to innovation, operational excellence and fiscal responsibility, which is reflected in its motto: “Leading today for tomorrow.” As a large, urban library, Mississauga Library System embraces the city’s philosophy in providing comprehensive services to its customers through 18 branches that house a collection of approximately 1.3 million holdings and circulate 8 million items a year.

“Libraries today are judged increasingly by their technology. Our users have been well served by SirsiDynix products and services in the past and now I am happy they will enjoy all the benefits of Symphony into the future,” said Don Mills, CEO of the Mississauga Library System.

The SirsiDynix Symphony ILS’s friendly GUI interface and flexibility will also enable staff efficiencies by streamlining internal library operations.

“The previous Dynix system served us well”, said Mills, “We are truly excited by the new up-to-date platform which will allow us to do so much more both in terms of staff efficiencies and services to customers.”

SirsiDynix, likewise, is excited to continue its long-standing partnership with the Mississauga Library System and the residents it serves.

“We are very happy that the City of Mississauga chose to continue its 14-year relationship with SirsiDynix for another 10 years,” said SirsiDynix CEO Bill Davison. “Our partnership with Mississauga Library System means a lot to us, and we are proud to serve the library system and its Mississauga users well into the next decade as we work together to meet and exceed library goals. We look forward to a bright and forward-moving future together.”
