LEHI, Utah (Oct. 1, 2014)— SirsiDynix is pleased to announce that the final member of the South Australian Public Library Network (SAPLN) is prepared to go live with SirsiDynix Symphony. Yankalilla will mark the 77th SAPLN site to go live since the consortium’s Symphony implementation began in 2012. With a complete Symphony integration— and with some sites running on two databases or through multiple branches—SAPLN will include circulation materials from 80 databases, 159 sites, and over four million items.

“This is a great accomplishment for both SAPLN and SirsiDynix,” said Bill Davison, SirsiDynix CEO. “With Symphony, SAPLN’s libraries and users are benefiting from the flexibility and power of an ILS designed to accommodate the complexities of a large system such as theirs. As they implement products from the BLUEcloud Suite, such as Enterprise, eResource Central, and MobileCirc, both SAPLN staff and users will have library access from any device, anytime, anywhere. We’re pleased to see this phase of the project completed and look forward to developing an even stronger partnership with SAPLN going forward.”

SAPLN libraries receive continuous support from Australia’s Public Library Services (PLS), which, with the strong support of SirsiDynix, seamlessly managed the rollout of Symphony to all SAPLN members.

“With libraries being some of the most visited public buildings in the State and with around 55% of South Australians being library members, using our shared SirsiDynix Symphony platform makes a great community service even better by expanding the range of items available and greatly improving ease of access to libraries and their collections,” said Geoff Strempel, Associate Director of PLS.

With more than 130 public libraries providing service to all South Australians, SAPLN adds nearly 975,000 library users to the 160 million Symphony users worldwide.

About SAPLN

The South Australian Public Library Network (SAPLN) comprises every public library in the State and works collaboratively to provide a service to all South Australians. In addition to sharing a common library management system, SAPLN’s public libraries benefit from a State and Local government partnership which includes free Internet and WiFi access, free membership and borrowing rights at all libraries, free delivery of any collection item to customers at all libraries, and library materials in over 20 community languages. Public Library Services (PLS) is a business unit of the Libraries Board of South Australia and operates within the Department of State Development (DSD).
